Aguero apologises to Luiz
Sergio Aguero has apologised to David Luiz for his two-footed stamp on the Brazilian defender during Manchester City’s FA Cup semi-final win over Chelsea.
The Argentine escaped a three-match ban after Chris Foy missed the horror tackle and the FA ruled the incident could not be re-refereed.
Luiz had called on Aguero to say sorry and the striker tweeted: ‘I’ve contacted @DavidLuiz_4 and apologised for what happened during the match. It was an impulse reaction that shouldn’t have happened.’
The victim responded: ‘Thank you @aguerosergiokun for a demonstration of character. We get to know great man and athletes this way.’
Luiz suffered no serious harm in the challenge and played on until the end of the match - but in the aftermath did call on his fellow South American to apologise.
