United and Chelsea ready to add to packed fixture list

Barcelona are eyeing a money-spinning friendly with Chelsea or Manchester United in Qatar.

According to Catalan publication Sport, Barcelona are obliged to play a friendly match in Doha in the first half of 2014, as part of a sponsorship agreement with Qatar Sports Investments.

Plans are yet to be set in stone but it is understood that the Spanish giants are keen to take on Chelsea, which would also mean the renewal of rivalry between former Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho and Barcelona.

It is expected that any proposed fixture would take place in the opening fortnight in February, before the sides return to Champions League action at the end of the month.

A meeting with Manchester United is also under consideration as an alternative.
