Chelsea reveal 14,000 season ticket holders will miss out on Europa League final

Chelsea have been allocated less than 10,000 tickets for their fans to watch the Europa League final against Benfica.

Only 18 per cent of the tickets for the Amsterdam ArenA will be available to fans who have followed the club around the globe.

This season alone Chelsea have already travelled more miles than would take them directly around the world visiting eight countries.

But only 9,800 of their fans will be able to buy tickets through the club to watch them in their second European cup final in two seasons.

That is less than the amount of tickets that have been shoehorned for UEFA to impress sponsors, corporate partners and their members.

It is understood Chelsea are disappointed with the ticket allocation because they want as many of their fans to go and that they are resigned to the fact there might not be any scope to increase their allocation.

For last season's Champions League final in Munich Chelsea were allocated 17,500 tickets in the 69,000-seater stadium.

Representatives of the club are in Amsterdam today having meetings about the Europa League final where the the issue is expected to be discussed.
