United fans wanted Ferguson out after just three years
Sir Alex Ferguson called time on his Manchester United career after winning an incredible 38 trophies in 27 years.
But it was not all trophies and honours for Ferguson at Old Trafford in the early years.
Having been appointed to replace Ron Atkinson in November 1986, it took the Scot nearly four years before he won his first piece of silverware.
And some fans had enough of the former St Mirren and Aberdeen boss and wanted him out as early as December 1989 when United lost 2-1 to Crystal Palace.
