Captain Ronaldo
Cristiano Ronaldo captained Portugal in the 2-0 win over Brazil to honour a dying wish, according to coach Luiz Felipe Scolari.
Big Phil revealed after the game that the Manchester United winger's promotion was the suggestion of Carlos Silva, the vice president of the Portuguese football federation, who died last Sunday.
Carlos Silva was a well known figure in Portuguese football, his 17-year playing career being followed by spells of management with clubs including Nacional, Farense and Belenenses.
Ronaldo cancelled his 22nd birthday celebrations on Monday as a mark of respect for the popular official and there was a minute's silence before the game at the Emirates Stadium.
