Lineker

England legend Gary Lineker last night called the FA greedy after the BBC lost the rights to screen FA Cup clashes and England internationals.

ITV and Setanta Sports have secured a four-year deal worth £425million to leave the BBC without any live domestic football, although they do have the rights to show highlights.

Rumours suggest that the Beeb's critical coverage of England matches contributed to the final decision but BBC anchorman Lineker said: "The only factor in the FA's decision was money.

"Never, and I mean never, has there been any kind of hidden agenda on our part.

"No matter how much the FA try and spin it into something else, it is has always been about money."
