A 'British Howard Hughes'
Mike Ashley, who is set to take over Newcastle United, has been described as unremarkable - a slightly chubby and unkempt man whose only business accessory is a mobile phone and who carries his papers in a carrier bag.Until earlier this year only one photograph existed of the 42-year-old, taken when he was a teenaged county squash player. Philip Beresford, who compiles the Sunday Times Rich List, which last month ranked Ashley the 25th richest person in the UK with a fortune of £1.9bn, recently described him as "Britain's answer to the late Howard Hughes".
