On Wednesday afternoon, Harry Redknapp found himself in a bleak interrogation room at Chichester Police Station, in West Sussex, under arrest and being asked to remove the belt from his trousers.

"I think they were worried I'd hang myself," he said, sombrely.

When he wanted to use the toilet, he had to do so in the company of a policeman.

Redknapp had his fingerprints taken,along with a sample of his DNA, before he was bailed to reappear at a police station in February as part of an ongoing investigation into corruption in football.
