Owl named Resident Of The Year
When the Finnish city of Helsinki let their journalists' association select the Resident Of The Year, the winner was an eagle owl named Bubi, who became famous when it caused a Euro 2008 qualifer between Finland and Belgium to be halted for six minutes after it landed on the crossbar.Finland won the game and Bubi was hailed as a lucky mascot, with his failure to appear at subsequent matches resulting in their failure to qualify for this summer's tournament.
