No sign of terror threat, says Austrian Minister
Austrian security forces have seen no indications there might be a large-scale attack at Euro 2008, Austria's Interior Minister Guenther Platter said on Tuesday at the opening of a police intelligence exchange centre.
"When I think of the scale of Euro 2008 -- 6,000 people alone went to watch the Italian team train -- it poses a huge security challenge," he said at the centre's opening ceremony.
"We are extremely well-prepared and have seen nothing to suggest any large-scale security scenario."
Up to five million fans are expected to attend the finals being co-hosted by Austria and Switzerland, whose police forces will be supported by foreign colleagues.
