The football star has teamed up with Elmo for a guest appearance on the hugely popular children's programme Sesame Street.

The LA Galaxy star was invited to appear on the first episode of its 39th season alongside a host of other celebrities.

He he introduced the word 'persistent' to Elmo and viewers on the show's Word on the Street segment.

A source said: 'David has always been a huge fan of the show. When he was a kid he watched it, like a lot of people, and knew all the characters. He was more than happy to go on.'
