David Beckham might be an idol for youngsters all over the world, but his example has landed a teenager from Nottingham in hot water this week.

Kurt Hallam, 15, has been kicked out of school after coping Beckham’s new hairstyle and in the process upset some of his teachers.

The ‘pompadour’ hairdo, that features a short back and sides coupled with a slicked back top, is a favourite for the ex-England captain along with a host of other famous footballers.

But teachers at the Nottingham Academy were not impressed when young Kurt turned up to school with the hairstyle, which he had topped off with some blonde hair dye.

The youngster was put in isolation before being forced out, leaving him bemused.

‘I’m a fan of David Beckham and I saw that he had the same style so I thought I’d treat myself,’ said Kurt, who claimed other pupils were allowed to have similar haircuts.

‘I never expected to be kicked out of school.’

The school’s executive principal Kelvin Hornsby defended the decision, saying pupils had to ‘present themselves smartly’.
