Maradona hired as 'motivational manager' by Argentine amateur club
Argentine lower league side Deportivo Riestra have taken on Diego Maradona as a "motivational manager" -- a job he plans to do part time while continuing his work as a sports ambassador out in Dubai.
Riestra play in the regional fifth (and bottom) tier of the Argentine football league, specifically in the Buenos Aires-based "Primera D" division.
Maradona reportedly flew back to his homeland earlier this week to pay a visit to the Riestra camp earlier this week, dropping in on a training session and imparting a few choice motivational pearls as well as handing over a signed shirt with the message "Hang on in there Riestra, damn it. Stop messing about and win promotion!" daubed across the front in marker pen.
