Singapore police arrest 14 people in connection with global match-fixing

Police in Singapore have arrested 14 people involved in a global match-fixing ban.

Officials have identified 680 suspicious games, 380 of them in Europe including World Cup qualifiers and Champions League matches, played between 2008 and 2011.

Five of the culprits, made up of 12 men and two women, are being held for further questioning and the rest have been released on bail.

The illegal activity is believed to have involved players, referees and officials from around the world.
