Arsenal ‘to warn’ Emmanuel Frimpong after racism row

Arsenal plan to remind Emmanuel Frimpong of his ‘responsibilities when using social media’.

The Gunners midfielder sparked a racism row after appearing to suggest that he had been left out of the squad to face Chelsea in last night’s Capital One Cup tie because of the colour of his skin.

Asked why he wasn’t named in the squad, he replied: "LOL I wanna laugh."

He then wrote: "Sometimes I wish I was white and English."

While he later denied that he was still referring to his non-selection, the Standard plans to warn the Ghana international about his conduct.

However, it is not believed any disciplinary action will be taken against the youngster.

Manager Arsene Wenger had previously told the club’s website that Frimpong would not feature because "he is still short of competition".
