Jones is demoted after wrongly ruling out Fer's unsporting 'goal'
Mike Jones has been taken off Premier League refereeing duties this weekend after ruling out Leroy Fer’s ‘goal’ against Cardiff.
Jones will instead be fourth official for the top-of-the-table clash between Arsenal and Liverpool.
Jones was criticised for appearing to contravene the laws of the game.
Pictures showed Jones signalling with his arm for Norwich to take a throw-in that came when Cardiff goalkeeper David Marshall rolled the ball out after injury to Alex Tettey.
But when Fer hit the ball into an empty net, sparking angry scenes between the teams, Jones claimed he had not indicated for play to recommence and insisted the throw be retaken.
