Liverpool fan refuses to watch game
One Liverpool supporter decided he would boycott his club's Premier League clash with Arsenal - because 20-year-old full-back Jon Flanagan had been named in Brendan Rodgers' starting line-up.
The 71-year-old, named Michael, then proceeded to call up BBC radio's 606 show after Rodgers' side lost 2-0 to the Premier League leaders to complain about Flanagan's inclusion - declaring that Arsenal's £42 million playmaker Mesut Ozil "must have been laughing his socks off."
When the BBC’s Darren Fletcher took Michael to task over his opinions, he said that he wanted to speak to Robbie Savage because "he knows about football."
Savage, being Savage, agreed with Michael and questioned why Kolo Toure hadn't been used as a wing-back instead with his reasoning: "Why not? He's got pace."
Michael himself would have been happy with "anybody" but then declared that Liverpool "haven't got anybody" - which kind of explains why Flanagan was called up, no?
