Electrician takes day off work to complete deadline day transfer
A non-league footballer who works as a part time electrician has been forced to take the day off work - so he is free to complete a deadline day transfer.
Lee Gregory, who plays for Conference side Halifax Town, works as an electrical technician to support his football career, which does not pay him a full-time wage.
But while today might be a normal working day for his colleagues, Gregory has taken the day off - because he might be about to hit the big time.
Championship club Blackburn Rovers have already approached Halifax over a deal, while Notts County have been rumoured to be keen on him.
So in order to make sure he’s free to travel to his new club for a medical and to agree personal terms, Gregory has been given annual leave just for today.
