Capello calls up the wrong player to Russia squad
The Russia coach has this week been left red-faced after unwittingly including a reserve-team player in his squad after a confusion over names.
The Italian, 67, included Lokomotiv Moscow reserve Andrey Semenov on his 23-man list to play Armenia on March 5, when he intended to select the Terek Grozny defender of the same name.
"I was surprised, to say the least..." revealed the lesser-known Semenov.
"Well, I have one year's experience playing for Russia's youth team!"
The Russian Football Union were forced to publish an embarrassing correction to the squad list and apologised for the mix-up.
Lokomotiv later deleted an article on the club website announcing Semenov's inclusion.
